JUDGE CONTINUES PERFECT SEASON AND MARQUEZ WIN IN BLYTHE

It’s officially the halfway point for the 2024 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS series, and the racing was held at Shortys MX Park in sunny Blythe, California. This course tests the drivers as they battle a motocross section with big jumps as they head down a canyon into the deep sands and a fast-paced off-road section. Sebastian Marquez brought home the win on Saturday in Pro Stock, with Beau Judge showcasing his Can-Ams speed with a win on Sunday in Pro Production.

Pro Stock lined up on Saturday as winds began to pick up, pushing some dust off the track, leading to quite the battle. In his Polaris RS1, Deegan Gonzalez took the lead early, with Cruz Worley and Sebastian Marquez just behind him after the first corner. Gonzalez led after the first lap but dealt with slight mechanical issues, forcing him to fall back. He kept pushing to keep him in the chase. Marquez put this to his advantage, passing Gonzalez, and secured that lead for the remainder of the race. He put a healthy gap in the rest of the competition, finishing just over 30 seconds ahead of his closest competition. Karsen Sandberg finished in second.

Unfortunately, he did jump the start, giving him a penalty, which caused him to drop off the podium, but he will be back to continue battling for the points championship. This allowed Paxton Schendel to slide into third place after putting a hard charge toward the end, as he had the fast lap of 7:37 on his final lap. In third place, Gonzalez was able to fix the minor mechanical bugs and keep pushing to put himself on the box for the 3rd time this season. At the halfway point, it’s Marquez with a 12-point lead over Cruz Worley in the championship points.

The weekend’s final race is Pro Production, with a full lineup as they set up for an hour-long battle on this brutal course. The Father-son Duo of Beau and Braden Judge set off together as it began, with Beau Baron getting around him early as they led back into the fast-flowing Offroad section. A minor racing incident between Braden Judge and Baron caused a small penalty for Judge pushing him back a few positions at the end of the race. Beau Judge kept his Can-Am on rails all day, getting the holeshot and keeping that clean air in front all day. Braden and Baron kept the battle hot for most of the race, fighting back and forth to determine their position on the box.

Meanwhile, from the second row, Shawn Saxton, in his Polaris Pro R that sounds like a Ferrari barreling down the race course was flying, putting down a hot lap of 7:05, almost 4 seconds faster than anyone else in the class. He was just over 10 seconds behind Judge on corrected time as he barreled through the competition on his way to a second-place finish on the weekend. Baron finished in third as he sits in second in points at the halfway point.

Thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, and racers for coming out this weekend. We can’t wait to see everyone at the next round, which will be held at Three Peaks Oasis in Cedar City, Utah, from May 17th to 19th.
