TRAVIS DAMON WINS AFTER A HEAD-TO-HEAD BATTLE AT GLEN HELEN

The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS Series made its final stop before the summer break at the legendary Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. With temperatures sitting comfortably in the low 80s, racers were treated to nearly ideal conditions as they tackled one of the fastest and most demanding circuits of the season. The iconic venue delivered plenty of drama across the ATV divisions, with championship implications taking center stage as riders fought for valuable points heading into the midpoint of the year.

The ongoing championship battle between Travis Damon and Beau Baron continued to headline the Pro ATV class, and Glen Helen delivered yet another thrilling chapter in their season-long rivalry. Baron got exactly the start he was looking for, grabbing the holeshot and leading the field into the opening laps. The veteran looked comfortable out front early as he attempted to build a gap on Damon and the rest of the field. However, as the race settled in, Damon began applying pressure and searching for opportunities around the massive Glen Helen layout. The turning point came once again in the technical Pro Section. Damon elected to take an alternate line through the obstacle, carrying additional momentum and using the exit speed to slingshot past Baron for the lead. From that point forward, Damon managed the race flawlessly, consistently laying down laps in the low nine-minute range while keeping Baron within striking distance but never allowing him a realistic opportunity to challenge for the lead.

Baron remained close throughout the race and continued to push the pace, but Damon never faltered. After ten grueling laps, Damon crossed the finish line first to secure another important victory and extend his momentum heading into the break. Behind the lead duo, Austin Baxter turned in one of his strongest rides of the season. The Honda rider remained consistent throughout the race and avoided costly mistakes to secure third place and another podium finish. Logan Huff fought through the demanding conditions to finish fourth, while Gage Leaver rounded out the top five after a hard-fought battle throughout the moto. As the championship fight continues to tighten, Damon and Baron have firmly established themselves as the riders to beat in the second half of the season.

The Pro-Am class appeared poised to produce another unforgettable showdown between Daven DeSilva and Eduardo Rojas. The two front-runners immediately established themselves at the front of the field and looked set to continue the intense rivalry that has defined much of the season. Both riders were charging hard through the opening sections of the course, separated by only seconds as they approached the truck track during the first lap. Unfortunately, the race took an unexpected turn for Rojas. As the riders entered the truck track section, Rojas elected to launch over a K-rail obstacle and successfully cleared it. However, something mechanical went wrong immediately afterward, leaving him unable to continue forward. Rojas was forced to stop and work on the machine trackside while the rest of the field raced away.

Although he was eventually able to get the ATV running again and rejoin the race, the damage had already been done. Even more frustratingly, his day would come to an end later in the moto when the engine ultimately failed, ending what had begun as a promising ride. With his biggest challenger sidelined, DeSilva remained focused and continued clicking off consistent laps around Glen Helen. The California rider never looked back as he powered to another Pro-Am victory. The mechanical issues for Rojas opened the door for others to capitalize, and Bobby Troy did exactly that. Troy rode a smart and steady race from start to finish to secure third place, marking his third podium finish of the season and his third time finishing third in 2026. Justin Semas continued his strong season with a runner-up finish after maintaining impressive pace throughout the race, while James Saunders and David Sudberry completed the remainder of the top five.

Layne Fryar came into Glen Helen carrying tremendous momentum and immediately showed she had the speed to win. Fryar wasted no time asserting herself at the front of the field, setting a blistering pace in the opening laps and looking every bit like the rider to beat. However, the race changed dramatically when Fryar encountered a downed rider early in the event. Demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, Fryar pulled over to assist the rider, sacrificing valuable time and positions in the process. What could have easily turned into a disappointing result instead became one of the most impressive comeback rides of the season. After rejoining the race well behind the leaders, Fryar began carving through the field. Lap after lap she worked her way forward, steadily recovering lost ground and eventually battling her way back onto the podium. By the time the checkered flag flew, Fryar had salvaged a remarkable third-place finish despite the significant setback. At the front, Torey Matajcich enjoyed a breakthrough performance after several difficult rounds. Matajcich looked comfortable all day and steadily moved into control of the race before pulling away from the competition. Once she inherited the lead, she never relinquished it, capturing her first victory in several rounds and returning to the top step of the podium.

Bailey Baron delivered another strong ride to secure second place, keeping herself firmly in the championship conversation. Matajcich’s victory carries major championship implications as the series heads into the summer break. With the points shuffled once again, Matajcich now leaves Glen Helen holding the Women’s Pro points lead by a single point over Fryar, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting championship battle when racing resumes later this year. As the series pauses for its summer break, Glen Helen once again proved why it remains one of the most iconic stops on the WORCS calendar. Between championship battles, dramatic mechanical failures, inspiring displays of sportsmanship, and fierce racing throughout the ATV ranks, the final round before the break delivered exactly the type of excitement fans have come to expect from the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS Series.
