NEW YEAR, SAME BATTLES AS DEMARTILE AND LYNN BATTLE IN BLYTHE
The 2025 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS series begins at Shorty’s MX Park in Blythe, California. The WORCS crew put together a 6.5-mile track for the top names in off-road racing to battle and put their abilities to the test. Lap times for the Pro’s hovered in the high 7-minute to low 8-minute range, showing how fast these riders push their bikes over this course. Dare Demartile looks to defend his title in the 450 class as Mason Semmens does the same in the 250 Pro ranks.
Shorty’s MX Park can throw various racing obstacles and terrains at you quickly to make you push your ability to the max, and this round was no different. Demartile excelled early on the motocross track and started by grabbing the holeshot on his Liquimoly Beta Racing machine in front of 450 Pro rookie Hayden Florez and Veteran Giacomo Redondi on his PC Offroad Kawasaki. Hayden Florez showed his speed on his Berkeley Yamaha early with the SLR Honda Team riders Ryan Surratt and Tyler Lynn in tow. At the start, Lynn had a slight mishap off the line, as he had started in the last and looked to gain time in the sand early. Dane Perry and the WORCS staff put together quite a fun and interesting Pro section for these riders as they were sent up a raw sand hill climb and had to take a hard left turn at the top, which then opened them up to a variety of lines for them to enter into a canyon which chicaned and connected you back to the main track at the bottom. Demartile had a small tipover early in the first lap, allowing Redondi to capitalize and take the lead, but it was short-lived as Demartile and Lynn both put the hammer down and separated from the pack to battle it out as the race progressed.

Demartile gained time through the moto section, but in the long sandy sections, which Shorty’s has no shortage of, Lynn was on fire as he moved to capture the lead around the race’s halfway point. As the 120-minute Pro race progressed, the braking bumps grew, and the track got slippery as they kept the water on the track to keep dust at a minimum. Once Lynn made the pass, he could settle in and hit his marks, gaining a steady lead lap after lap. He finished the race with a lead of 1:23 over Demartile and Redondi at the starting round of this season, showcasing another great battle between these top 3 brewing heading into the second round at Honolulu Hills Raceway. Ryan Surratt, who is battling a knee injury sustained at the first round of the NGPC series, gritted through the race to find himself in 4th, and Hayden Florez finished in 5th but did have a fall in the canyon and suffered a broken collarbone but hopes to recover and be back soon.

FMF/RPM Racing KTM rider Mason Semmens looks to defend his championship title in the Pro 250 class as his teammate Noah Gordon showcases his abilities in his first season in the Pro 250 Rank. As the green flag waved, it was all Semmens as he blasted out to the first holeshot of the season with Tristun Alvarez on his KTM and SLR Honda Jace Allred directly behind him. Gordon and Jake Alvarez made a mistake on the line as they started in the back, but it wouldn’t be long before they were hot on the trail of Semmens. Jake made a move on Semmens heading into the raw uphill section, and as they crested the top to make the left turn, a small mistake had him wash out the front end and lean the bike over, which gave the lead back to Semmens and fall back to 4th before getting the bike moving in the deep sand.

On the same lap, Semmens put down the fastest 250 lap time of the race with a 7:43 and gave himself a buffer of almost 30 seconds over his teammate Gordon. The battle for third heated up with two young and hungry racers, Tristun and Allred, coming into the scoring gate on each other’s rear tires for the next few laps. Allred made the pass stick on the third lap after putting his fastest and only lap in the 7-minute range for the entire race. The FMF/RPM Racing KTM team made a statement early this season as they dominated and went 1-2 on the box for Pro 250 with Semmens and Gordon, with Allred finishing the podium in third on his SLR Honda machine. Tristun Alvarez battled with his brother till Jake blew the chain on his bike in the final laps as they finished 4th and 5th, respectively.

On Saturday morning, the smell and sounds of 2-strokes rang out in Blythe as the FMF Racing 125 Pro class lined up to battle it out. Tristun and Jake battled heavily for most of this race as Tristun looked to make it a 3-peat this year in the class. Jake made the pass as they headed onto the final lap, but disaster struck in the sand as he ran out of gas and was forced to be towed in, allowing Damon to bump himself into second place and Jake to finish in 3rd at this opening round.
SLR Honda had quite the first round, with riders on the podium in each class as Carter Klein raced in the Pro-Am class, finishing first after a dead-last start. Racer Fry looks to be on the top of the box for this year as he finishes second on his Yamaha, with newcomer Andrew Schulz finding himself in 3rd place in his first Pro-Am Race. In Womens Pro, Lauren Woods returns to WORCS Racing and captures a win in Blythe on her Reezen Racing machine, with Dana Raynor finishing in second.
The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS Series extends our thanks to all the racers, volunteers, and sponsors for an incredible start to the 2025 season. We look forward to seeing you all at the next round at Honolulu Hills Raceway, taking place February 21–23.
