LYNN SHINES AT GLEN HELEN RACEWAY ON NEW TEAM
Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS brought its second race of the 2024 season to the famous Glen Helen Raceway. One of the biggest rounds of the year and did not disappoint as we had some of the best racing in recent history with battles in every class, which kept the crowd on its toes for the 2-hour endurance race. SLR Honda riders Tyler Lynn and Mikayla Nielsen had quite the weekend as they both won their respective classes, and Colton Aeck put his new Hatch racing Kawasaki on top of the 250 Pro Class podium. Dustyn Davis showed his hometown advantage, leading from wire to wire in the Pro-Am Class.
The 125 Pro class brought to you by FMF lined up on Saturday morning; as the green flag dropped, it was your 2022 champ Tristan Alvarez on his RPM Racing FMF machine, and Ryan Surratt came into the Talladega turn neck and neck with Surratt, able to pull ahead just a bit as the two smokers barreled up and into the ridges of Glen Helen Raceway. Surratt took the holeshot, and that’s all he needed as he led wire to wire, holding off another 450 veteran after Giacomo Redondi got past Tristun Alvarez into second place. Travis Damon put up a good battle but fell just short of the podium with a fourth-place finish, only losing one point to Alvarez in the championship battle after his third-place finish.

Later in the afternoon, the Women Pro class lined up with SLR Honda rider Mikayla Nielsen, who showcased her speed as she grabbed the holeshot and set sail early, leaving Ava Silvestri and Kaitlyn Jacobs to battle it behind her. Unfortunately, Jacobs had a big crash midway through the race, which caused her to retire early, and we hope to see her back at the races as soon as possible.

After a weekend filled with Santa Ana winds ripped through the raceway, Glen Helen called to cut out the ridges due to dust and the inability to water the course effectively. The WORCS crew quickly changed the course, adding much of the moto track and another section of rocky, single-track for the Pros on Sunday. Justin Hoeft came out the gate on fire and quickly got out in front with his Purvines Racing teammate Trevor Stewart directly behind him. Aboard his SLR Honda, Tyler Lynn was on a mission, setting the fastest lap on the third lap with a time of 8:54.1, moving from fourth into second behind Hoeft as they settled in. As the halfway point approached and the teams reached their time to pit, a slight mistake from Hoeft dropped him into 4th place behind a charging Dare Demartile on his Beta ride. Stewart led the race for a lap until he overjumped a section and blew the spokes out on a tire, forcing him back down into 4th place after a quick tire change in the pits. Hoeft turned around on the gas as the battle between him and Demartile grew, with each exchanging passes in the race’s second half. Lynn took advantage of the battles behind him as he clicked off laps, gaining time on his opponents as he went on to win his first race of the season and his first on his new SLR Honda ride. Disaster struck for Hoeft on the final lap after passing Demartile for second place. He ran out of gas on the final lap, allowing Demartile and his teammate Stewart to finish in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Hoeft finished in 4th place, with Thomas Dunn rounding out the top 5 in the 450 Pro Class.Â

In 250 Pro, Jake Alvarez shot out of the starting line aboard his FMF RPM KTM Machine as he led the first half of this race behind a charging Kai Aiello and Colton Aeck. Nearing the halfway point, Mason Semmens, another RPM Racing rider, found himself in third place, charging behind Aeck as the battles for the top 5 in this class were heating up, coming into the second part of their race. Aeck pushed past Alvarez on his Hatch Racing Kawasaki with Semmens just a few seconds behind as they fought hard for almost an hour with each other for the lead. On the final lap, they came into the Moto course side by side, with Semmens looking for any lane to make a pass but was unable to make it happen, finishing in 2nd behind Aeck, who got his first win of the season. Aiello caught Alvarez and created a pass on the final lap to grab the final spot on the podium.Â

Hometown Hero Dustyn Davis displayed his home track skills as he put down a hot lap of 9:28, almost 15 seconds faster than the rest of the field. He continued that pace on his Gas Gas, finishing first ahead of a stacked field of Pro-Am riders. Alex Dorsey improved his 3rd place finish in Taft with a second-place finish this round. The final spot was up for grabs, with Hayden Florez, Keegan Hardy, and Jackson Glathar swapping positions for the duration of the race. In the end, it was Hayden Florez who was able to find himself back on the podium after winning the championship last year.,
