LINDQUIST CONQUERS WEST COAST IN DOMINATING FASHION AT MESQUITE
The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS Series returned to the deep, punishing sands of Mesquite MX Moto Oasis in Mesquite, Nevada, where riders faced one of the roughest courses of the year. Known for its relentless terrain, this round pushed both man and machine to their limits. The weekend’s layout featured deep, soft sand that demanded precision and endurance, along with a gnarly pro section packed with loose planks, logs, and tires that tested the best of the best.

Sunday brought the Pro ATV class to the line, and from the drop of the gate, it was Beau Baron launching his Honda to the front, diving into the first corner ahead of the pack. The veteran showed his experience early on, leading the charge through the opening lap and conquering the technical pro section first. But as the race transitioned back into the open sand, it was Max Lindquist from Green Bay, Wisconsin, who stole the show. Lindquist unleashed a masterclass performance, slicing through the course with near-perfect precision and blistering speed. He clocked the fastest lap of the race at 10:31, a full ten seconds faster than any other rider in the field and impressively, he did it on motocross tires, not the preferred off-road setup. Once out front, Lindquist never looked back, maintaining a relentless pace to take a commanding win and cement himself as one of the fastest rising stars in WORCS ATV racing. Behind him, Travis Damon did everything in his power to close the gap, pushing hard to catch Lindquist as the laps wound down. Despite his efforts, the reigning champion had to settle for second, still showcasing solid consistency as he continues his title defense. Logan Huff rode a steady, mistake-free race to secure third, keeping himself in podium contention throughout. Meanwhile, early leader Beau Baron suffered a tough break with a flat tire mid-race, costing him valuable time and dropping him to fourth by the finish. Layne Fryar rounded out the top five, with Cole Fryar unfortunately unable to finish after a strong start. Lindquist’s Mesquite performance was nothing short of spectacular—his speed, control, and tire choice decision made it one of the standout rides of the season.
In Pro-Am, it was Gage Leaver who lit up the sands of Mesquite. From the start, Leaver set an unforgiving pace, quickly pulling away from the pack and stretching out a massive two-minute lead by the time the checkered flag waved. Lap after lap, his Yamaha ripped through the deep sand with precision, and by the halfway mark, the battle shifted to who could hang on behind him. That battle came down to Daven DeSilva and Eduardo Rojas, who traded positions multiple times in an exciting back-and-forth duel. Both riders displayed impressive speed, but a costly mistake by Rojas, who stalled his machine while trying to navigate the pro section, gave DeSilva the opening he needed. The Ramona, California native capitalized on the moment and held steady to take second place, while Rojas regrouped and finished third.

Aaron Smith kept things consistent to grab fourth, while Landen Johnson and Mason Del Gatto were both forced to retire early. Leaver’s dominant performance not only showcased his raw speed but also his growing confidence as the season nears its end.

Saturday kicked off with the Women’s Pro ATV class taking center stage under clear skies and sweltering heat. After months of recovery from injuries earlier this season, Torey Matajcich returned to her dominant form—looking smooth, confident, and fast from the very first lap. The Lake Havasu City native wasted no time reestablishing herself at the front, putting in a blistering 11:37 on her second lap—her fastest of the race—and never looking back. Behind her, Layne Fryar from Surprise, Arizona, put together a smart and consistent race, knowing exactly what was at stake. With her second-place finish, Fryar officially clinched her first-ever Women’s Pro Championship, a well-deserved title after a season of dedication and steady results aboard her Blu Cru Yamaha. Bailey Baron continued her strong form with another podium, taking third for the second consecutive round. The Atascadero, California rider held her ground against the hard-charging Donna Espensen, who kept the pressure on throughout the race but ultimately finished fourth. Heidi Colman and Julyssa Pesqueira rounded out the top six, battling the brutal conditions to the checkers. For Matajcich, the victory marked not just another win, but a statement that she’s fully back and already setting her sights on a 2026 championship campaign.

With Mesquite in the books, riders now set their sights on the final round in 29 Palms, where several championship battles remain to be decided. From Fryar’s title-clinching performance to Lindquist’s powerhouse ride and Leaver’s Pro-Am statement win, Mesquite delivered everything WORCS fans have come to expect—intensity, drama, and sand flying everywhere.
