JUDGE AND MARQUEZ WIN AT GLEN HELEN RACEWAY

The second round of the 2024 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC season unfolded over a breezy weekend at the iconic Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California. This esteemed track drew a mixed group of experienced racers and enthusiastic new competitors to its starting lines. A notable adjustment was made to the racing timetable, moving the Pro Production races to Saturday instead of Sunday to accommodate the concurrent desert race at King of The Hammers. Beau Judge clinched the top podium position with his Can-Am X3, while Sebastian Marquez secured a win with his Polaris RS1 in the Pro Stock category, wrapping up an eventful weekend of racing.

With 13 cars poised at the start, Beau Judge took the prime position at the front. At the same time, Shawn Saxton seized the holeshot from the second row in his Polaris Pro R. As daylight faded, the fastest drivers engaged in a fierce contest that remained undecided until the final moments. Beau Baron, piloting his Polaris, executed a flawless race, expertly navigating the course to keep Judge within reach. Starting from the second row, Saxton made an impressive charge, his modified exhaust resonating across Glen Helen Raceway’s landscape. At the race’s climax, Judge claimed victory, standing atop the podium with Saxton and Baron completing the top three. Hot on their heels, rookies Paxton Schendel and Karsen Sandberg made a statement, finishing in the top 5 and signaling their strong presence in the sport.

The pro stock class showcased some thrilling racing, climaxing with a dramatic final lap. Paxton Schendel rocketed from the start, battling Deegan Gonzalez for the lead around the Talladega turn. Gonzalez encountered a minor mechanical issue, necessitating a quick pit stop, yet he reentered the race determined to claw back his position. Meanwhile, Hannah McLain was finding her groove before a mishap on the track led to her not finishing the race, though she’s expected to return strong in the next round. As the race neared its end with the white flag waving, Schendel was out front until a stray rock damaged a tie rod, hampering his speed and relegating him to fifth place. This twist of fate opened the door for Marquez to take the lead and secure his first victory of the 2024 season. Karsen Sandberg was ahead of Gonzalez but had to contend with a flat tire, slowing down to ensure he could finish the race, which allowed Gonzalez to overtake him for second place, leaving Sandberg to complete the podium in third.
