BARON AND LEAVER CONTINUE DOMINANCE AT GLEN HELEN

The sun was blazing over Glen Helen Raceway this past weekend, with temperatures climbing into the low 90s. The heat added an extra layer of difficulty to an already demanding track, testing both endurance and focus across every class. From the Women’s Pro division to the Pro-Am and Pro fields, the racing was fierce, the competition relentless, and the atmosphere electric.

The headline event of the weekend, the Pro class, delivered the high-stakes drama fans expected. Beau Baron of Atascadero, CA, once again demonstrated why his name is linked with ATV excellence. From the start, Baron set a blazing pace, but he faced stiff competition. Travis Damon of Lake Havasu City and Logan Huffe, stayed close, shadowing his lines and watching for any openings. Mid-race, the pressure intensified, with Damon and Huff trading seconds and forcing Baron to push hard. Further back, Joseph Semas, and Cole Fryar raced their own battles, with each lap seeing the order change as fatigue set in. Yet, Baron’s consistent performance and ability to respond to every challenge proved crucial. In the final laps, he extended his lead, crossing the finish line confidently and reaffirming why he remains the rider to beat.

The Women’s Pro class kicked off the day with a showcase of grit and consistency. Kingman, Arizona’s Torey Matajcich made her return after a crash at this years race in Blythe sidelined her till this round. She put a blistering pace looking as if she didn’t miss a beat on her recovery journey.

What made her ride so impressive wasn’t just the wire-to-wire lead, but the way she managed to get faster as the laps wore on. Starting with a 9:55 opening lap, she chipped away at her times until closing with a blistering 9:29 on the final circuit. Behind her, Layne Fryar and Bailey Baron fought hard to keep the pressure on, while the rest of the field—Donna Espensen, Heidi Coleman, Taysun Bratcher, and Dakota Hibler—battled the heat and the track in their own duels. In the end, Matajcich’s flawless ride set the tone for the day: smooth, controlled, and untouchable.

If the Women’s Pro race was about dominance, the Pro-Am class was about rhythm and resilience. With 11 laps on the schedule, the race demanded not just speed but the ability to sustain it under punishing conditions. Gage Leaver of Las Vegas, NV, rose to the challenge, laying down consistent laps that kept him clear of the pack. His opening pace gave him breathing room, and from there he never faltered. Daven DeSilva and Eduardo Rojas stayed close in the early going, but Leaver’s steady tempo proved unshakable. The lap charts told the story: while others saw their times fluctuate in the heat, Leaver’s remained rock solid. By the closing laps, he had carved out a decisive advantage, sealing a well-earned victory. For the rest of the field, it was a battle of attrition—managing fatigue, hydration, and the relentless Glen Helen terrain.
