January 19th, 2022 – Primm, NV- We are back! The first round of the 2022 Rocky Mountain ATV MC WORCS series is in the books. On Saturday, the first ever Women’s ATV Pro class race was held, and Torey Matajcich came out on top, with Layne Fryar and Donna Espensen rounding out the box. “It feels great to start on the top of the box for the new women’s pro class. It really has been something I have wanted for so long. Not only that but to have Layne and Donna up there with me was amazing” said Matajcich.

Cold and windy conditions kept the track wet and slippery for the event on Saturday with the Primm Valley dirt growing some extremely deep ruts in the process. With races from SXS and ATV on the books for Saturday the course was changing every minute.

Sunday had the better weather for the weekend with the wind dying down and the clouds moving out to give us a beautiful sunny day for the ATV Pro and Pro-am showdown. 90 minutes of battling lead way to some awesome racing and crazy stories to begin the new year with.

In the ATV Pro class, Beau Baron took the holeshot and never looked back as he was able to click his laps off battling thru the intense rocks inside the pro section that the WORCS Crew put in for them. “I walked the rocks thoroughly before the race and chose a pretty good line the first lap but the second time through some lap traffic got in my way and it got a bit sketchy but we made it through“ said Baron.

The battle of the weekend goes to Roberto Villalobos and Travis Damon who battled most of the race for 2nd and 3rd. The Low Profile Motorsports teammates put on a clinic with a few position changes during the race and kept the crowd entertained. After the dust settled though, it would be Villalobos taking home 2nd place with Damon finishing in the 3rd spot.

In the ATV Pro-am class, we had two young guns on the podium with Braxton Grosse on the top spot who is back to defend his 2021 title in the Pro-am class. Grosse had to overcome a few things to lock in that top box finish. During the race, he went over the handlebars in the pro rock section and ended up losing his kill switch cord. With some quick thinking, Grosse found a stick to push inside to allow him to continue the rest of the way back into the pits to get a bit more effective fix to get him back on the course and keep charging to victory.

Diego Urrea was hard off the line and kept a smooth and steady pace to the race allowing himself to put down consistent lap times and a nice hard earned second place.

Jayden Jackson, who was the eliminator JSRmoto Designs Tireblocks Holeshot winner, had quite an interesting race after starting with the holeshot. The rocks proved to be the hardest factor in this race with most riders having issues at least one or two laps while navigating through them. When Jackson crossed the finish line in third place, the machine was overheating as he lost a water pump during one of his last laps.

The WORCS ATV will be heading to San Bernardino next month for Round 2 to race the famous Glen Helen Raceway on the weekend of Feb 11 – 13.
