MARCH 23, 2021 – LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ – Cotter Boys racing entered this round of racing looking to improve on their disappointing results from previous round in the Stock Class and move back onto the podium and improve in the Championship Points battle.

First race of the day, SXS Y STK 9-12 Class; Both boys started on the front row with Wyatt (#12) getting the hole shot on the whole field into the downhill sharp left hand corner and leading the first lap with brother Mason (#10) close behind in P2. Β The boys were battling hard early with the close field of racers running in the front pack for the next 10 minutes or so of the 35 minute race. Β That is when Mason took the lead of the race on lap 4 and held it for the next 20 minutes (6 laps). Β Little brother Wyatt was in a heated battle mid-pack falling to P6, then quickly back up into P4. Β Mason fell to P2 after getting hung-up by much slower traffic that always seem to drive like a bowling ball bouncing off the lane bumpers, some parents need to teach these kids to hold their lane when being passed. Β Mason drove hard in P2, putting pressure on P1 in hopes of forcing a mistake, and when that mistake happened, Mason made his move.

Unfortunately, P1, P2 & P3 all tried to occupy the same space on the track, which lead to a 3-car pile-up just before the start finish line. Β This then opened the door for little brother Wyatt to pass them all, take the lead of the race, and land himself in first place and at the top of the podium for his very first time. Special shout out to ELKA Suspension’s awesome track support crew for helping the team out with a fix on a competitors broken shock, now that is support!Β Wyatt currently now sits 4th in points for this class, while Mason has moved up to 6th in points.

Last race of the day, SXS Y 250 PROD Class; Both boys again started on the front row due to their current points standings, but against the faster modified SXS’s, hole shots are hard to come by. Β Wyatt and Mason came out of the first sharp left hand turn in positions 4&5, and the task of chasing down the faster cars was on. Β Mason quickly worked his way thru traffic and by lap 2 was already in P3, which is where he stayed the remainder of the race, unable to gain any headway on the much faster Production Class SXS’s.

Mason finished a strong 3rd place for the second time this season in this class, third time in the top 5. Β Wyatt had some ground clearance issues on the heavily rutted track, losing his chain on lap 6, and finishing 9th overall. Β Mason remains 3rd in points for this class, while Wyatt fell to 5th in points.
