FEBRUARY 16, 2021 – PEORIA, AZ Mason Cotter, #10, lined up on the pole position for SXS Y 250 Stk9-12 due to his dominant First place finish at Rnd1 in Havasu. After losing some grip at the start, Mason entered the course in P3, and it did not take him long to make passes for the lead and within a few laps was once again leading the pack.
20 minutes into the moto, with a large lead, Mason made a pass on a slower lapped car (#702) only to be slammed in the rear suspension by what look to be a deliberate hit from said lapped car. Mason rolled twice from the hit, luckily physically OK, but broke several rear suspension components on the car effectively ending his race. After a mad thrash back in the pits, Mason rolled up to the back of the line for the start of the SXS Y 250 Production race.
Mason ran a smart fast race, saved his equipment and finished third overall against the higher HP cars. Mason currently sits fifth in points for SXS Y 250 Stk9-12 and third in points for SXS Y 250 Production tied with his little brother Wyatt. Cotter Boys Racing would thank all that support, especially their sponsors, Hoosier Tire West, Rugged Radios and Douglas Wheels.
