Casey Sims Takes First at WORCS Round 6!
May 27, 2018- Cedar City, UT – Round 6 of the 2018 WORCS racing season is in the books and it was a good one! We began our 470 mile journey to Cedar City, UT early on Saturday morning. My class wasn’t scheduled to race until Sunday afternoon. We arrived at Iron Mine Race Park on Saturday afternoon, got checked in, and went to tech. I was ready to race on Sunday!
My class was scheduled to race with the Women’s 1000 class and the 900 class. Those two classes took off ahead of us and we waited for our green flag. There were 6 cars in my class, and as the flag flew and we took off. When we lined up, I was able to get a good spot on the line. I had the inside line at the first corner, and as we rounded turn one, I took off getting the hole shot! Our race was 45 minutes long and I did not get to pre run, so my first lap was going to be extremely important. I got a good feel for the course on lap one and kept a steady pace. With each lap, I was able to increase my lead and put more distance between the other cars in my class and I. My car ran great and performed flawlessly over the jumps and through the rough terrain. I was able to maintain my lead throughout the entire race and crossed the finish line in 1st place!
We loaded up quickly after the race to make the 470 mile journey home. I was scheduled to race at the first UTV Straight Rhythm race in Perris, CA on Monday morning in both the 800 and the 1000 classes. The results and my race report for that race will follow.
WORCS racing takes the summer off, so we won’t be racing with them again until September. Sims188 Racing will continue to race at the Dirt Series and at the Quad X Racing Series throughout the summer. We’re headed to Glen Helen Raceway this weekend for Dirt Series round 5. I’ll be back in my RZR 1000 and I’m looking forward to it!
