Casey Sims’ Youth 250 Production Amateur Race Report

Casey Sims raced his final round of the 2016 WORCS Series at Buffalo Bills in Primm, NV on October 22, 2016. Racing in the SXS Youth 250 Production class, they were the last race scheduled for the day. Casey was second off of the line at the start, and fell in behind his Got Sand Performance teammate, Dallas Gonzales. Seconds into the race, Casey was passed by Jacob Peter, moving Casey into the 3rd place spot. The track was rough and very torn up from all of the prior races that day. Jacob got stuck in a corner shortly after he passed Casey, allowing Dallas to get further out ahead. Unfortunately, there was no place for Casey to get around Jacob at that point on the course. After course officials pulled Jacob out and got him going again, Casey stayed right behind him, and was able to make a pass on Jacob towards the end of the first lap moving Casey back to 2nd place.

The battle continued throughout the duration of the 30 minute race, as Casey held off the cars behind him. Casey had to make up time as he had also gotten caught behind a few stock cars that had gotten stuck in the timing chute in front of him, and he had to overcome several obstacles on the very rough and chewed up course.

About 11 minutes into the race, Dallas Gonzales lost his belt and was no longer able to continue. This moved Casey into the 1st place spot. Casey stayed focused and remained determined to win, and in the end, he crossed the finish line taking the 1st place spot for the day, and clinching the 2016 WORCS Series Championship! Jacob Peter took the 2nd place spot, and Casey’s Mad Racing teammate, Kaden Danbury took 3rd .

It was an amazing race that kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time! At the end of it all, Casey said, “It was a tough race! I was glad my car held together on that course. I’ve had an awesome season, and I really appreciate everything that my sponsors and my parents have done for me!” Many thanks to Mad Racing, Got Sand Performance, GBC Tires, Factory UTV, Crow Enterprizes, Elka Suspension, Douglas Wheel, RK Excel America, Maxima Racing Oils, Surface Sun Systems, Rugged Radios, Crown Performance Products, Pavement Recycling Systems, and Perrault Motorsports.
