RJ Anderson Wins at South Point Casino WORCS

Las Vegas, NV – RJ Anderson showcased his primary sponsor’s colors by winning at round three of the Rocky Mountain ATV WORCS presented by Maxxis and Dirt Wheels held at South Point Casino. Anderson, whose Polaris RZR is backed by the casino hosting the event, beat out points leader Mickey Thomas to take the victory. Beau Baron was third, ahead of Ryan Holz and Keith Johnson.
Comprising three horse arenas and the grounds surrounding the casino, the circuit featured everything from big air jumps, log sections, sand, dirt and clay, as well as tunnels made of shipping containers. The 30 minute race was held on a Saturday night in front of a massive crowd. With 26 UTVs in the field, the race started in four rows.
After staring on the third row, Walker Evans Racing’s RJ Anderson picked his way through the field to net his first WORCS victory of the season. He led a sweep of the podium by Polaris RZRs.
“This place is like my home,” said Anderson. “They’ve been huge supporters. In fact, one of the only reasons I get to race off road is because of the South Point Casino owner, so to come to his house and win is just phenomenal for me. I have to thank Polaris in sweeping this podium and building an awesome machine.
Mystik Lubricants’ Mickey Thomas didn’t only race at the South Point Casino WORCS, but he also raced in the Lucas Oil Truck Race at Glen Helen earlier in the day, he traveled nearly 200 miles to Las Vegas to race in the WORCS event afterwards. Thomas inherited the physical lead when David Haagsma clipped the edge of the one of the tunnels and had to retire early.
CST’s Beau Baron, who also won the Pro ATV race here, earned his second podium of the season with his third-place effort after starting dead last.
HOLZ Racing’s Ryan Holz continued to build momentum in the WORCS Championship and finished fourth after dealing with traffic issues.
Maxxis’ Keith Johnson nearly recorded his first podium of the season after battling with Holz for all 30 minutes of the event. He finished just one second behind Holz to round out the top five.
Super ATV’s Ray Bulloch was two for two in Pro Stock and Pro Unlimited as he won both races. In the Pro Stock race he came out atop a race-long battle with Codey Rowley to net the victory. Rowley finished second, followed by Nick Thompson.
Walker Evans Racing’s Codey Rowley was happy with his third consecutive podium, which helps him pad his points lead.
Madigan Motorsports’ Nick Thompson drove from a second-row start to snag the last spot on the podium.
In Pro Unlimited, Bulloch passed Ryan Piplic going into one of the arena sections and set sail from there to score the double. It marked Bulloch’s first Pro Unlimited victory. Piplic finished second and Beau Baron was third.
The Rocky Mountain ATV WORCS presented by Maxxis and Dirt Wheels resumes as the series heads to Lake Havasu, AZ for a doubleheader weekend of racing March 18-20.
