WORCS Round 1 Amateur Race Report

Peoria, AZ – The 2013 Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series presented by Motoworks and Dirt Bike Magazine season opener kicked off at Canyon MX in Peoria, Arizona, and hundreds of motorcycle racers made the trip to Arizona.

Arizona’s #198 Brandy Richards dominated the Women’s A Class in 2012 by winning every round, so for 2013, Richards moved up to the Women’s Pro Class, and the results were the same as she out ran reigning Women’s Pro Champion, #972 Tatum Sik to claim the win with Sik finishing in the second spot.

KTM’s #510 Starr Savage claimed the Open A Class win, and he would go on to finish sixth in the Pro 2 Class and less than 3 minutes from a podium finish for an impressive start to the season.

Yamaha mounted #654 Garett L. Saye finished fourth in the 2012 Open B points race, and he is off to a great start in 2013 with the season opener win after grabbing the Holeshot. Also, Saye finished third the 450B Class.

A crowd of parents gathered around the table top to cheer on the junior racers, and #301j Carson Moore was on the gas he secured the 85C Class Win with 7 laps followed #18j Keilan Horta and #214j Michael C. Terrin rounding out the podium.

#55j Logan Chambers once again claimed the season opener Super A Class win, and he also brought home the win in the Mini-A class

The 2012 65A class champion, KTM’s #365y Mason Matthies, finished an impressive seven laps with a time of 44:57.509 for the win.

Round 2 of the 2013 WORCS series is just a few weeks away, so if you missed out of the action at Canyon MX, be sure to make the trip Buffalo Bill’s Casino & Resort in Primm, NV on February 8-10th.
